Students' career exploration: A meta-analysis

Career exploration refers to the of environment and self with aim gathering career-related information. On basis Lent Brown's (2013) model career self-management (CSM), current meta-analysis examined antecedents outcomes among college students (K = 109, N 34,969 students). We found support for applicability CSM context students' exploration. Specifically, positive associations were association three core person-cognitive variables self-efficacy decision-making (rc 0.52), outcome expectations 0.31), career-exploratory goals 0.42) Results path analyses suggest that effects both on are mediated by goals. Further, in line model, was positively related 0.33) negatively barriers ?0.15). Moreover, associated important outcomes, such as decidedness 0.22), perceived employability 0.35). Exploratory moderator revealed some relationships influenced sample (i.e., age, gender, cultural background) measurement (e.g., publication date) characteristics. The findings this highlight several implications further development future research exploration, practice.
